Workshop
ALIVE Leaders:
Decision-making without all the answers
ALIVE Leaders know when to ask, when to listen, when to involve others and when to give clear direction.
This practical workshop applies ALIVE to leadership pressures: making decisions with incomplete information, inviting challenge without losing authority, responding to disagreement and creating a culture where people speak honestly, exercise judgement and learn from experience.
Participants examine how their habits affect what people contribute, conceal and take responsibility for. They then apply ALIVE to their own leadership challenge and commit to a change they can test in their own context.
If people only tell leaders what they want to hear, the organisation stops learning.

What participants will leave with
A practical way to choose how to lead
Leaders use four leadership modes - Consult, Listen, Inform and Decide - to judge how open a decision really is. They learn when involvement will improve the outcome, how to avoid false consultation and when clear direction is required.
Skills for better-informed decisions
Leaders apply Asking, Listening, Interpreting, Validating and Exploring to test assumptions, uncover missing information and understand perspectives they might otherwise overlook. By keeping inquiry focused on what the decision requires, they avoid discussion becoming open-ended and know when it is time to act.
Practical ways to build ownership
Leaders explore how their questioning and decision-making can help people raise concerns earlier, use their own judgement and take responsibility for what happens next, rather than waiting for the leader to provide every answer.
A learning culture that does not depend on the leader
Leaders consider how to create routines and feedback loops that encourage teams to make sound decisions even when the leader is not in the room.
A developed response to their own leadership challenge
Participants apply the workshop thinking to a real situation from their own context. They choose the right leadership mode, identify what they may be missing and leave committed to a next step they can put into practice immediately.
